Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered into a search tool is transmitted to the outside provider that operates the tool. That provider processes the input and supplies its results. We do not keep or record those search terms on our own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When you email us, the message is retained long enough to review and answer it. It is not shared beyond our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers receive routine technical information when a visitor loads a page:
- Internet Protocol address
- Browser name and version
- Operating system and device category
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
- Referring website, when one is supplied
- Date and time of each request
Cookies and Analytics
Small files called cookies help measure traffic, popular pages, and common exit points. Analytics providers combine visit information to show general use patterns. A browser can reject or remove cookies, though doing so may change how some site functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Operate the website and maintain reliable page delivery
- Route a submitted query to the selected search provider
- Measure which information visitors use most
- Diagnose errors, misuse, and performance problems
- Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Manistee County Criminal History does not own, assemble, host, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to the Manistee County Sheriff, the 85th District and 19th Circuit courts, Michigan State Police and its Criminal Justice Information Center, and the Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry. Visitor data is not compiled into a third-party record or consumer report. This website is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate search boxes placed on this website. Information typed into those tools falls under the provider's privacy policy, retention schedule, and sharing rules. We do not direct those policies. Read the provider's terms and privacy notice before sending a search.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Manistee County offices, Michigan courts, MSP, corrections, registry resources, and outside search services. Once a visitor leaves this website, the destination's privacy practices control. Review them before providing personal information.
Advertising services may use their own technology to track activity across more than one website. That processing takes place on the advertising provider's systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal information is not sold. Limited data may be available to:
- Search providers that process a query submitted through their tool
- Analytics vendors that measure site performance and traffic
- Advertising networks that place or measure advertisements
- Government or law-enforcement authorities acting under valid legal process
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, commonly used safeguards protect the limited information collected. No internet service or storage method can be guaranteed against every risk. We work to reduce that risk but cannot promise that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If information from a minor is identified, we will remove it promptly.
Your Data Rights
Rights may differ based on the law that applies to a visitor. Michigan FOIA, MCL 15.231 et seq., governs access to records held by public bodies, while MCL 28.241 et seq. governs Michigan State Police criminal-identification records. Those laws should not be confused with this private site's handling of visitor data. Subject to applicable law, you may:
- Request access to personal information retained about you
- Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
- Request deletion of information where the law permits it
- Object to or opt out of certain forms of processing
